Joel Barrera Nava of Carpentersville passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family December 29, 2020 in Oak Lawn Illinois. Born in Mexico May 15, 1958 to Raul Barrera Bustamante and Hermina Nava Cabrera. Beloved husband of Paula Samayoa; loving father of Gabriela (Osbaldo) Saldivar, Marco Barrera, Yesica (Pedro) Aldana, and Poly Barrera; caring grandfather of Michelle Saldivar, Andrew Saldivar, Christian Saldivar, Daniel Barrera, Diego Aldana, Sarah Aldana, Mathew Barrera and Noah Barrera; fond brother of Consuelo Barrera, Tomas Barrera, Raul Barrera, Guadalupe Barrera, Emma Barrera, Lourdes Barrera, Heriberto Barrera, Eva Barrera and the late Jesus Barrera.
Joel worked for almost 25 years at Biltmore Country Club as a men's locker room attendant. He also worked at Ivanhoe Country Club for the last four years. Joel was a dedicated member of St. Monica Church in Carpentersville for many years. He was the most friendly guy you could meet, and always had a smile even in his saddest moments. He definitely had a wild soul, riding his motorcycle around town. And if you really knew him, you would know that he would come to your house uninvited! :) Mapachon was a family nickname for him, but that's another story! He was a warrior, always working hard for what he wanted, and for the same he fought till the end to get better but God had already decided that he was going to continue his ride in Heaven.
